It is known that
many seniors and people with disabilities have
restricted facilities of information and
communication but that they want to have more
information and in particular about cultural
topics if being also receptive to improve their
information and communication skills in order to
make their life easier. The project
"Improving social life and communication skills
of the seniors and disabled people by using
Internet facilities" - ISLACOSADIF- is initiated
originally by seven participants from the
EU-countries: Romania, Germany, Greece, Hungary,
Italy, Lithuania and the Netherlands, but will
be developed in an adapted way however in the
frame of a Learning Partnership of only three
partners; those from Greece, Lithuania and the
Netherlands. The objective of the Learning
Partnership is to help seniors with the ailments
of old age, such as visual and hearing
deficiencies and to learn them how to improve
their cultural and social life by using modern
information tools particularly the Internet
based on their interests and
needs.
|
In the Learning Partnership ISLACOSADIF
these aims will be reached by investigating new
ways to stimulate the interest of the seniors
and disabled people to use the Internet, to
share usual information and communicate in order
to improve the quality of their lives and to
acquire modern citizenship.
-
So, the information needed by the target
group and the influence that the social and
cultural context have on decisions which seniors
and disabled people make in using communication
technologies will be analysed.
-
In the next phases of the Learning
Partnership ISLACOSADIF informative assistance
will be based on the results of the
investigations and some general training modules
and demonstration courses will be developed on
different themes of interest for the target
group. |
The main impact of the Learning
Partnership on the target group should be
increasing the quality of life through
developing communication skills, acquiring
abilities for using information technologies,
rising the level of active participation in the
socio-cultural life, enlarging the cultural
horizon, rising the well-being. We expect the
people in the target group to become active
users of the Internet, to become better
informed, to become visible on forums, to use
e-mail, to create blogs and use all these means
for expressing their point of view, for posting
their memories, and making their voice heard. In
this way, we hope seniors who feel that way,
will stop feeling passive, dependent,
unemployable, they will stop feeling use- less.
We expect also a great impact of this phenomenon
to have on the youngsters, being the majority of
people who are using internet for communication.
The impact of the Learning Partnership on the
staff involved in training activities should
consist in developing abilities in working with
the elderly and acquiring practical abilities in
using the software especially designed for
people with visual and hearing impairments. The
staff directly participating to the Learning
Partnership will obtain practical intercultural
experience in the field of education, improving
their teaching abilities. |
